The MIT Basketball team defeated host Franklin & Marshall College, 69-54, in the Elite 8 Round on Saturday night to earn a ticket to the Final Four in Salem, Virginia. Tech out-rebounded the Diplomats by 12 and shot a blistering 56% from three in front of a packed house in Lancaster, PA.

Leading the way was point guard Mitchell Kates, putting in a stellar performance of 21 points, 8 assists, 3 rebounds, 3 steals, and a block. Sharp-shooter Jamie Karraker lit up the nets again with 17 points on 5-of-10 shooting from three along with 6 rebounds. All-American Noel Hollingsworth pitched in a near double-double with 14 points and 9 rebounds, while senior Dan Mccue added 8 points and 5 rebounds in his second start of the season. Big-man Will Tashman shut down the Franklin & Marshall's post players, holding the Diplomats to 38% shooting.

The Engineers will head to Salem for the first time in the program's 112-year history to face off with UW-Whitewater at 8pm on Friday.
