MIT Spring Career Fair on Thursday

MIT is hosting its annual Spring Career Fair for those students who are still seeking summer internship and employment opportunities. Dozens of companies will be on hand to meet with the MIT student body. MIT's main career fair is during the fall, when over 350 companies and organizations flock to the MIT campus to offer jobs.

MIT Lands Three on ECAC All-Star Teams

The MIT Basketball squad landed three student-athletes out of the ten possible spots for the ECAC New England All-Star 1st and 2nd Teams. 6'9" Noel Hollingsworth and All-American Mitchell Kates earned 1st-Team Honors, while 6'8" big-man Will Tashman earned a spot on the 2nd Team. All three starters will return for the 2012-2013 season.

Statistically Speaking: Record Breaking Season

The 2011-12 MIT Basketball Team has certainly established itself as arguably one of the most prolific MIT squads of all time.  The team's most important accomplishments are undoubtedly the first ever MIT sweep of the NEWMAC regular and post season championships and first ever trip to the NCAA Division III Final Four.  However, this year's team has broken many other marks, both collectively and individually.  We break them down below:

MIT Assistant Coach Bill Johnson Travels to Malaysia with Australian Team

2nd-year Assistant Coach Bill Johnson '10 is currently participating in the Sultan Azlan Shah International Basketball Tournament in Malaysia with a semi-professional team from Australia, the Gold Coast Authentic All-Stars. The 6'8" swingman is starting for the club, and scored 12 points in 16 minutes in their opening round win over the Singapore National "B" Team.

Johnson, a 1,000-point scorer and member of the memorable '08-'09 MIT squad, recently had professional stints in Costa Rica and Iceland. He is pursuing a similar endeavor in Australia during MIT's offseason.

Fifth-year assistant coach Paul Grant, who was recently featured here (http://web.mit.edu/newsoffice/2012/from-nba-to-iceland-0316.html) along with MIT's other assistants, helped out his alma mater, Division I Wisconsin Badgers, in their recent run to the Sweet 16:

MIT Falls to UW-Whitewater in Final Four, Ends Historic Season

The #3 MIT Engineers fell to #8 UW-Whitewater 71-56 in the Division III Final Four in Salem, Virginia Friday night. Tech, tied with the Warhawks 26-26 at halftime, couldn't overcome a 7-minute scoreless drought in the second half. 1st-Team All-American Chris Davis led UW-Whitewater with 30 points.

Will Tashman knotted 15 points and 14 rebounds while being named to the 2012 NCAA All-Tournament team. Mitchell Kates scored 12 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 assists, while Billy Bender scored 11 points after sitting out the past three games with a fractured orbital. Noel Hollingsworth had 10 points and 3 rebounds in the loss.
