Engineers Top Staten Island, Advance to Elite 8

The MIT Engineers shot 53% from the field and 55% from three to defeat the College of Staten Island, 83-67, last night in the NCAA Sweet 16 Round. The Engineers moved to 28-1 in this historic season in front of a crowd of 1,700 at host Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA.

Mitchell Kates dominated the game with 29 points, 5 assists, 4 steals, and 2 rebounds. Jamie Karraker lit up the nets in the first half, hitting all seven of his shots, including 6-of-6 from three, to finish the game with 25 points. All-American Noel Hollingsworth registered 13 points and 8 rebounds, while big-man Will Tashman notched a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Dan Mccue was a machine on the defensive end, keeping Staten Island's guards at bay.
