MIT Shoots Past Lesley

MIT came out strong in their contest this afternoon with Lesley University, extending their lead to 16 points with 2 minutes remaining in the first half. However, they would be plagued by inopportune fouls and poor shooting over the next 10 minutes of the contest, allowing Lesley to slash the lead to 1 point with 13 minutes remaining in the contest, 52-51. Behind strong defense, led by Daniel McCue who took multiple charges on the afternoon, and stellar outside shooting, MIT answered by mounting a 30-7 run and putting the game out of reach. Freshman Nick Davis capped off the game with a two-handed slam in the final minutes of the game, his third dunk in three games (check the blog next week for video of all three dunks). The final score was 82-61.

Jamie Karraker led MIT with 24 points, behind 8-16 shooting from 3. Karraker was one made 3 away from tying the Institute single-game record in the category. He also added 7 boards. Also playing well for MIT were Noel Hollingsworth, who had 22 points and 8 rebounds, Tim Donegan, who had 10 points on 4-5 shooting, Nick Davis, who had 11 points and 4 rebounds, Mitch Kates, who had 7 points and 4 assists, and Dan McCue, who finished with 6 points on 2-2 shooting from 3.

MIT is off for the next 3 weeks until their contest against Harvard on New Year's Eve.
