MIT Falls to UW-Whitewater in Final Four, Ends Historic Season

The #3 MIT Engineers fell to #8 UW-Whitewater 71-56 in the Division III Final Four in Salem, Virginia Friday night. Tech, tied with the Warhawks 26-26 at halftime, couldn't overcome a 7-minute scoreless drought in the second half. 1st-Team All-American Chris Davis led UW-Whitewater with 30 points.

Will Tashman knotted 15 points and 14 rebounds while being named to the 2012 NCAA All-Tournament team. Mitchell Kates scored 12 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 assists, while Billy Bender scored 11 points after sitting out the past three games with a fractured orbital. Noel Hollingsworth had 10 points and 3 rebounds in the loss.

MIT ends the their historic year with a 29-2 record, their best ever, and bids farewell to seniors Billy Bender, Arni Lehto, and Dan Mccue.
